Welcome to Boatshore Cottage

A charming seafront cottage situated on the beach in the fishing village of Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland.

Boatshore Cottage is the “Granny Cottage” next door to Jonah Cottage, a contender on Scotland’s Home of the Year 2021. The oldest part of this remarkable building dates back to 1690! Back then cottages were built to last- even right on the sea front!

I had my mother and auntie in the 80s staying at the boatshore from Monday to Friday. It had everything required for there break away and they loved looking out of the window at the walkers and swimmers in the water. really enjoyed themselves with the views, would recommend to anyone .

We had the best time staying at Boatshore! Hannah was so helpful from start to finish and left such personal touches including a little craft set and book bag for my daughter - so generous and kind. The views were beautiful and we so enjoyed seeing the swimmers arrive every day. We were able to visit some lovely location attractions too -there’s plenty to enjoy for children nearby. Thank you for the best stay - we would absolutely love to come back and breathe a big sigh of relief upon our return! X

We loved our 3 nights at the boatshaw, could happily have stayed longer! our son absolutly loved the beach & loved sitting at the window looking out to sea for boats! Great place if you love wild swimming, we loved going for a swim at high tide & then running back in for a warm shower. The cottage is beautiful so we'll thought out & had everything you could possibly need. The welcome bottle of fizz was such a nice touch. We'll definitely be back.

Just had an amazing week at Boatshore. Hannah is so helpful and a wonderful host. Nothing is too much trouble. She keeps in touch from booking. A simple email and quick reply answered any queries that popped up during our stay. The cottage is in the most magical setting especially if your a swimmer like me! The cottage itself is so cute and bijoux! Decorated with so many wonderful little touches. Can’t wait for December to be back in this quaint little gem by the see. There is a Chinese 2 doors down. Local pub along the street and great pub with great food The Sea Glass across from the co-op. A little spar shop n local fish and chip shops plus Bene’s for really great take always at night if you don’t feel like cooking. The local history of Boatshore and Cockenzie house on your doorstep is great if like me your into history. There’s kite surfing along the coast and a coastal drive to local towns and castles. It is such a perfect place for an idyllic break. Honestly can’t say enough about this beautiful little peace of heaven.

Everything about our stay at Boatshore was perfect, from the friendly and welcoming host to the stunning location that never gets boring. Perfect if you love the sea, love swimming, or would like a great spot to explore Edinburgh and the surrounding area, with so much to see and do. The cottage has everything you need and more, with a view of dreams!!! We cannot wait to go back again!!

This cottage and it’s location made my soul sing!!! It has the most amazing views out to sea. There is always something to see, from boats passing by, sea glass collectors combing the beach and the wildlife. There is a perfect little cove for a swim which is popular with the wild swimmers who are friendly and always have time for a chat!! At night you can hear the soothing sounds of the waves lapping on the pebble shore. It is peaceful and tranquil and a perfect escape from it all. The cottage has everything you need for a self catering break and it has a few extra added touches to make your stay comfortable ( and interesting!! The binoculars were great for boat watching). A few yards away you can board the bus which will take you straight into Edinburgh if you fancy a day / night out. Can’t wait to go back again!! Just love this place!❤️

The most gorgeous little cottage, fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. I had the best sleep I’d had in years and felt amazing probably due to all the swimming and comfy bed. I can recommend East Coast Restaurant and the Chinese takeaway 2 doors down. Our stay passed too quickly. Thanks for everything Hannah x

Just had the most wonderful weekend at the Boatshore. The kids loved swimming, paddle boarding, seal spotting and searching for sea glass. The scenery is just stunning. We went for my husbands birthday and the little touches Hannah did for us to celebrate made it even more special. Will be returning next year. Thank you so much for a relaxing wonderful stay. She also snapped this amazing photo of us as we were celebrating.
